Roger Madson, the founder and original heart and soul of rk heliski, pioneered in heli-skiing when he used a Pilatus aircraft in 1970 . This aircraft was specialized in short take offs and landings, which made it ideal to guide heli-ski tours on glaciers in the Central Purcells.
In 1975 he formed a partnership with Hans Gmoser., the founder of the well-known Canadian Mountain Holidays. They called their joint endeavour 'Radium Bugaboo Heli-Skiing Ltd'.
They have replaced the aircraft by helicopters in 1973. rk then moved its base of operations to Panorama and eventually became 'rk heliski panorama inc'.
rk now has over a 42 year history in the Purcells. All of rk's ski guides are highly experienced and certified by the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides (ACMG) or equivalent. This is moreover an internationally recognized certification.
